Birthday Boy!!

Happy 1st Birthday Sutter! Wow, I can’t believe you’re already a whole year old. You have made this last year so much fun. You are the happiest baby and even put up with Teagan pushing, pulling, choking hugging and all together bothering you and manage to keep a smile on your face! You are walking now and look so cute doing it. You keep your arms out in front of you for balance and probably so you can break your fall when Teagan inevitably knocks you down. You are also working on your vocabulary daily. I think you’re up to about five words now…Mama, Dada, Doggy, No, Uh-Oh and Na-Na (for bottle). You are the sweetest baby and I can’t wait for all the fun things you’re going to learn in the coming year. One of them hopefully being how to stand up to Teagan…she really needs someone to put her in her place;) Your daddy and I love you so much, Happy Birthday.

Love,

Mommy

Teagan's 2nd Haircut

It was that time again, time to get Teagan's outta control hair a little more in control. As much as I hate getting it cut since I want it to grow out so badly, I knew it was time for a little trim up as it was really starting to look like she had a mullet. And yes she did get her hair cut in basement...Matt's hair chick also cuts hair out of her house so that's where he took her.

Family Pics

Here are some samples we got back from a photo shoot we had. Of course I didn't like the ones with the whole family...maybe once we get them all back there will be one I like, but I doubt it. Maybe Matt can use his photoshop skills and make me look like a size 2, then I'd like them;)

Halloween '09

Here are a few pics of the kids from trick or treating. As you can see it was very cold out. Sutter (aka Flounder) just stayed in the stroller the whole time and stayed warm. Teagan (aka Ariel) ran around and got her fair share of candy before announcing she was done and then bundled up in her stroller to keep warm. It was a lot of fun:)

10 Months Already!

Sutter,
I can't believe you are already 10 months old! It seems like only yesterday I had to drop Teagan off at Grandma and Grandpa's because we had to be at the hospital in the morning to have you. Before you were born everyone always warned me that because Teagan was such a good baby that you were going to be a terror. And wow have you proved everyone wrong! You are the happiest baby...always laughing and smiling, even when Teagan is pushing, pulling, tackling, poking, yelling, and generally just harassing you. But she does it all out of love, at least that's what I keep telling myself! These days you're crawling like a mad man and pulling yourself up on everything. You can walk around holding on to something and can stand by yourself for a bit before you topple over. You can say mama and dada and use them correctly when you see us. You're eating any and all baby food that's put in front of you! You also love the little gerber puffs and cheerios. I guess you have what they call a "healthy appetite" ;) You're in about the 88th percentile for height and weight and are wearing 12 month clothes. Sutter, we just love you to pieces and are so happy that you're our little big boy!

Love,
Mom & Dad

Teagan's ABC's

I just watched this after I posted it and the sound and Teagan's lips weren't in synch....hmmmm don't know how to fix that?!

Halloween Sneak Peak

Here's a picture of Teagan modeling Sutter's Halloween costume...bet you can guess what Teagan's going to be;)

Sutter's new 'do

Here's a quick glimpse of Sutter's new haircut. After I hacked it up, Matt fixed it and it looks great (besides the one bald spot from me). The flash on my camera phone is super bright so that's why he looks mad.

The Zoo

We took the kids to the zoo today and had an awesome day! We did everything...the zoomobile, zoo train, carousel, fed the parakeets, and Teagan got a "tattoo"! As you can see below Teagan got a little scared getting close to the elephants! She loved feeding the parakeets when they were sitting on my popsicle stick, but the second one jumped to hers she wasn't so sure about them.

My Life Has Come To This...

On the way to drop off the kids at daycare this morning Teagan was eating Scooby Doo fruit snacks. She was pointing out Scooby Doo on the package and then she got all excited and said the Little Mermaid was on the package as well. I told her that it wasn't the Little Mermaid, as far as I know the Little Mermaid and Scooby Doo aren't friends. I explained to her that it was actually Scooby Doo's friend Daphne and she said no it's Ariel. Yes, I argued with a two year old for 10 minutes over a character on her fruit snacks. The conversation ended with Teagan saying "Mom, focus this is the Little Mermaid Ariel not Daphne".

Adventures in Potty Training

So first of all I thought this potty training thing was going to be a lot harder than it's actually been. Teagan stays dry most days and about 50% of nights. She's starting to actually tell us she has to go BEFORE she goes which definitely helps. She used to tell us she had to go right after she went so I was just putting her on the potty every half hour and that worked, but was also quite annoying. So now that she is telling us it's helping out a lot. Going "number 2" in the potty has been interesting. I thought that that would be the biggest hurdle...that she'd just keep going in her pull up for a while. Nope she just decided not to go at all. After 4 days of not going at all she started telling me that she had to poop so we'd run to the potty and then sit and sit and sit. This went on for a couple hours of her telling me every 10 minutes that she had to go and then alas she finally did! She was soooo excited and I have her chocolate milk as a reward....instead of the usual 2 pez she gets for going pee pee. Anyway, so she has gone number 2 on the potty now 3 times, but she waits days inbetween and then it turns into a production. I mean I'm glad she's not going in her pull up, but I just hope that she'll start going more again and not hold it for days!

Ok enough about poop and pee. I need to write about some of the crazy things that come out of her mouth so that I don't forget about all these moments. Teagan has been very inquisitive when I change Sutter about the additional part he has down there. So I told her it was his pee pee. That seemed to work well, but then Matt was changing Sutter one day and Teagan asked what that was so Matt being a guy told her it was a penis. BIG MISTAKE. Well she came and found me and said "Mom, Sutter has a penis" and I laughed which was also a mistake because now she thinks it's funny to say that. Like when we're walking through a store...Teagan used to yell at everyone that passed us "This is Sutter and he is my brother" and I'd just smile at the other person and it was fine. Well now she yells to everyone "This is Sutter and he has a penis" and this is why I may never go in public again. I mean seriously what do I say to that?! Here's a great conversation that took place while we were all in the car the other day...

Teagan: Mom, Sutter has a penis
Kelly: Oh really?!
Teagan: Yeah, it's in his diaper. And daddy has a penis too.
Kelly: Where's daddy's penis?
Teagan: In his butt!
Kelly as I'm laughing so hard I can hardly breathe: Matt you have a penis in your butt!!!

Yes, we are very mature around here.

Up North

Here are a few pics from our trip up north to the cottage this past weekend. The weather didn't cooperate the best, but we still had fun.

Oh Chubbles...I just want to eat you:)

Reading Time

Daddy and Teagan reading a magazine together. She loves to "read" and always grabs magazines and then makes up stuff to go with the pictures and says "I'm reading!"...the odd thing is she always picks O Magazine, guess she likes Oprah.

Sorry for the delay...

Sorry for the lag in posts lately. We finally got our internet and TV hooked up at the new house yesterday. It's been so weird not having either for the past couple weeks....but kinda nice. It will be nice to feel a little more connected though! I have a ton of great pics on the camera so I'll try to get some posted this week now that we're back up and running:)

The Bird

Well Sutter had his 6 month check-up earlier this week and he's living up to his nickname Chubbles. He weighed in at 20lbs 11oz...just a couple pounds shy of Teagan! That puts him in the 93rd percentile for weight, in his defense he also is tall...87th percentile for height. Other than that he's healthy and happy. And the above picture reflects what Sutter thinks of his nickname Chubbles (note hand gesture).

Have a safe and happy 4th of July!!

Sponsor This Child

For less than $1 a day you can sponsor this cute little girl. I mean seriously why does she look like an orphan every time I take a picture of her??!! Maybe it's because Matt is watching the kids today and he doesn't tame that crazy hair!

Update

I haven't downloaded any pictures off the camera in a long time so I don't have any to post...but I still thought I'd write a little update:) With the upcoming move it's pretty crazy at home, but the kids are doing great (besides Sutter having a little cold right now). Teagan is just crazy, she is a sponge and absolutely everything she hears she repeats. And I mean everything...she dropped her sippy cup the other day and said "damn it". I'll take full blame for that one since I know that has slipped out a few times in front of her. She also has said "suck" when she drops something or doesn't get her way. I believe it just comes out that way because she can't pronounce f's too well...I will not take the blame for that one though! The only good thing is that she knows when to use the words as they are always in the right context, so she's learning! And Sutter is probably the happiest baby ever. All you have to do is look at him and he just smiles from ear to ear:) Teagan is a great big sister and helps out a lot....but she also has her sassy moments. If Sutter cries she yells at him and tells him to "take a nap now". We've been up north a lot lately and Teagan loves to go out in the boat and see the fish we catch. She gets excited when we reel in and she sees the minnow on the hook...she starts yelling you have a fish and then I have to explain that that's what we started with and we want to get a bigger fish! She has mastered her ABC's and can count to 10. She will eat pretty much anything and would prefer peas for dessert over anything else....hopefully she'll never realize that peas really aren't dessert! Sutter is eating cereal now, but he prefers to spit it back all over you rather than swallow it. I can't blame him though because that stuff doesn't taste too good. Hopefully in the next couple weeks when he starts eating other baby food he'll enjoy it more. Also, Sutter has rolled from his tummy to his back a couple of times on his own. I say on his own because Teagan is more than happy to give him some help and push him over when he's on the floor. Amazingly she hasn't broken his arm off yet. All I have to say is that when Sutter is older and BIGGER than Teagan she better look out because he's going to have a lot of making up to do for all the stuff she's done to him! Well I think that's all I have for now. I hope everyone has a great week and I'll try to get some pictures posted soon:)

It's The Thought That Counts

So as some of you may know I submitted a picture of Teagan a few months ago to this local morning show that has a picture of the day contest. Well she won so they showed her picture on TV and said a little about her. Well I got a call this morning that her picture won the picture of the month contest as well so they had the picture professionally framed and we could come pick it up! So I sent Matt over to get it a little bit ago and below is a picture of the goods. Now I do have to say that I think the frame is quite ugly, but then again it was free:) It also happens to be my dad's birthday on Thursday and he is the one that made the snow fort with her and took the picture so I think this will make a great gift for him to hang in his office! Wow will we look thoughtful;) It's the thought that counts right...not the money spent??!!

Parent of the Year

Well I'm sure that child protective services will be knocking on my door after I post this. I put Teagan to bed on Friday night and checked on her shortly after and she appeared to be asleep. So I went and watched a movie and never heard a peep from her. Before I went to bed I looked in on her one more time...and below is what I found. Apparently, she thought it was a good idea to take off her jammies and diaper and then fall asleep naked. So needless to say I felt like the most horrible mom ever when I saw my daughter sleeping in a pool of pee shivering. Oh and this happened up north this past weekend...just the kids and I went, so I'm sure Matt is questioning my single parenting skills;) {modesty patch added for obvious reasons}

Teagan's Bass

Teagan caught a bass up north this past weekend (with a little help from grandpa)...she was very proud:)

Happy Anniversary!

Happy 5th Anniversary Matthew!! I love you more than a fat kid loves cake and can't wait for our weekend in Chicago! I couldn't phrase how I feel about you better than Adam Sandler so here it is....

I wanna make you smile whenever you're sad
Carry you around when your arthritis is bad
All I wanna do is grow old with you

I'll get your medicine when your tummy aches
Build you a fire if the furnace breaks
Oh it'll be so nice, growing old with you

I'll miss you
I'll kiss you
Give you my coat when you are cold

I'll need you
I'll feed you
Even let ya hold the remote control

So let me do the dishes in our kitchen sink
Put you to bed if you've had too much to drink  (ha ha)
I could be the one who grows old with you
I wanna grow old with you

Nothing Exciting

Well I keep on forgetting to download the pics off the camera. I have a lot of cute ones of Teagan and her new motorized golf cart she got...and some video. I'll try to get that posted very soon. Since I don't have any new pics I'll post some old ones I have of Matt.

Big Girl Bed!!

Teagan is sound alseep right now in her big girl bed! (proof below) She's been refusing to sleep in it since we put it together, she put up a little fight tonight but then fell asleep.

Checkups

So both kids had checkups today...Teagan had her 2yr appt and Sutter his 4mo appt. I'm becoming so domestic, scheduling check ups back to back and all. I know for some that may not seem like a big deal, but for me to plan that far ahead and make the appts together is nothing short of a miracle. If sychronized checkups and synchronized naps were events at the mommy olympics I would totally win. Anyway, here are the stats (drum roll please)...

Sutter:
25.5 in (70th percentile)
17 lb 7 oz (89th percentile)

Teagan:
32 in (9th percentile)*
26 lb (40th percentile)

*Yes, I asked if she was really a midget and the dr. said no. April, I know you'll be dissapointed since you wanted a midget to rent that could wear a sombrero with chips and salsa on its head. Back to the drawing board with that idea.

Great America

Here are a couple pics from Great America...the last two are Matt and Sutter after Great America, tuckered out.
